Vibrant and enigmatic, Jessica Eaton's work considers the very nature of photography. Created on the occasion of the artist's first solo museum show, cfaal 403 is the latest in Easton's ongoing "Cubes of for Albers and Lewitt" series in which she photographs grayscale cubes, blocks, and pyramids through red, green and blue lens filters--- primaries on the additive color wheel. Using motion and multiple exposures, she generates layered and blurred chromatic effects, "mixing" colors directly onto the film. At first glace, Eaton's works can easily be misread as digital manipulations; however, on close viewing, the surface textures, edges and shadows suggest they are depictions of real objects.
